Jerome Liebling Photograph
Q1. "It is not altogether wrong to say that there is no such thing as a bad photograph - only less interesting, less relevant, less mysterious ones.
I chose this photograph of a young boy taken by Jerome Liebling because I dont really think it looks that bad but it is very less interesting from my point of view. Its just an image of a boy in the centre of the photo, lighting looks good, its pretty clear but then its kind of boring and the composition does not seem to be effective to me at all. to MEE .. I think this photograph goes pretty well with the Susan Sontag quote I have chosen because from what I think, I think Susan is trying to say in her quote that - there is no such thing as a bad photograph or a mistake .. mistakes are fine and whatever type of photo you take is good but you just have to work on what you think is wrong with your image. I think she's trying to say that if you think your photographs are bad then try making them more interesting, more relevant and more mysterious.
Mary Ellen Mark Photograph
Q2. "I just think its important to be direct and honest with people about why you're photographing them and what you doing. After all, you are taking some of their soul."
The Photographer who owns this quote compared it to a picture of this field with trees. I think what Mary is trying to say is that taking a photo is like taking information from someone. she thinks its better to let a person know when your going to take a photograph of them so they know, being honest with people because what I think from this is .. taking a photo of someone is sort of like a cut, it would just leave scars therefore a photo of someone you take without telling them could be seen every where and last forever. This image looks like a dead tree with no leaves, it could describe "taking some of someone or somethings SOUL!" .
